Enchanting Prologue
State of Development: Enchanting is still deep in development. What we are presenting here is highly theoretical and will be subject to constant changes during the mechanic’s early development and playtesting.
Design Notes: Enchanting Scales entirely with Level and Level alone, making it a good Routine Craft Option for those who have time to spare in their Daily Routine. It also doesn’t require any ingredients or other knowledge beyond the individual Recipe for a given Enchantment.
Non-Stacking: Any given item may only hold one Enchantment at a time unless said item states it has additional Enchantment Slots. Enchantments may also only be applied if they’re compatible with a particular item. Enchantments applied to surfaces may not overlap but may be adjacent to each other.
Apex Equipment, Extraordinary Tools, Remarkable Items, and World Class Crafts may still gain an Enchantment, as their Supernatural & Magical aspects are not considered Enchantments.
Channeled Enchantments: Some Enchantments may be strengthened by spending more time on the one Enchantment. This typically increases the number of Charges available or the increases the power of the Enchantment.
Enchantment Types
Buffs: Weapon Enhancement, Equipment Enhancement, and Item Enhancement.
Curses: Weapon Enfeeblement, Equipment Enfeeblement, and Item Enfeeblement.
Surfaces: Traps and Triggers.
Most Enchantments of a Recipe may be used variably for each of the potential Enchantment Types, often requiring a Branch Tree Specific Leaf Effect to unlock.
Overlapping Other Effects: In many cases Enchantments will be similar or identical to Effects available from other Effect Trees. Having one does not grant the other, nor do Leaf Effects from either cross over to enhance or alter the base effects.
Shelf Life: Enchantments vanish at the end of their Shelf Life whether they were used up or not.
Permanent Enchantments: Some Enchantments are Permanent until Eradicated. Even if the Enchantment is Permanent, the item may still only have as many Enchantments as they have Enchantment Slots.
