Starting the Table, y.71 — Renisans

Before the Unification,
There was war,
Every small nation,
Fighting for land,
For Control.
— Ulm Lalilfae Imu

The rise of hundreds of small nations across Ager Ethe from the westward push over the Seventy years of Mediva’s expansion created distinct borders all along the continent. Technology here is far less restricted than in the Mediva period. Every decade or so saw breakthroughs. While visiting the Renisans time period there are treasures of art throughout the capitol cities. We see, just as in Oler Althe, the divide between castes stabilizes to where large groups of aristocracy no longer need to struggle for their daily needs, and the lucky few and talented spend their lives pursuing their dreams instead of food, shelter, and clothing.

The other side of the coin is the power struggles, the small wars between the small nations. With the wilds mostly conquered and the old world’s devastating attempts to reclaim Ager Ethe reduced to economic and expansionist ideals and tactics, these small nations turned on each other for borders, resources, and control.

Coins

During Renisans, the 71 years leading up to the transition to a new age, enough coins were minted where bartering and direct trade has become near completely eradicated. The critical thinking divides between, “I have this wheat, and you have that meat, I’ll give you some of mine, and you give me some of yours.” and “I have this wheat, I’ll sell it for stamps, then go stamp everything I need,” over the 71 years switched from nearly entirely the first way of thinking to the other.

Starting Stamps: During Itemization starting in Renisans, a character begins with 300 Royal Stamps and 750 Common Stamps. Anything costing more than this needs a background story reason as to why they would have the item(s).

Renisans Starts

Starting Locations

Renisans may start in any drafted up town, village, city, or capitol. There is room on the continent for table specific content. The locations provided by us are cannon. Our Locations and supporting characters are photo made, we suggest describing them in your own words.

Renisans Nations

The distinction between Mediva and Renisans is how the populations are clustered. Instead of villages only being sparsely spotted around farmland, they are clustered around towns, the towns are clustered around cities, and anywhere between three to fifteen cities are clustered around a capitol. All of these smaller places are typically under the banner of their capital nation. Each of the capitol nations tend to have their own systems for law, taxes, and philosophies.

Renisans Villages

With the exception of truly rural areas, Renisans Villages are only a few miles apart from each other, in between towns no more than a two hour walk. Rarely more than three hours from the nearest city. While these villages are still made up of only a few families, the mix of species in them are far more diverse.

Renisans Towns

Renisans Towns follow a pattern. They tend to have one or two advanced exports. A large manufacturing labor for the town’s export focus. The town names are usually associated with whatever goods they produce. They’ll also have a constant exchange of freight. Merchants and Freightliners will be found coming into town with goods and leaving with the town’s export at all times during the day. In addition to their specialties, Renisans Towns are also the trade epicenter of the villages nearby.

Renisans Cities

In the city nearly all of the towns and villages goods are available. The central hubs for the nation tend to be awake and busy nearly all day and night.

Renisans Technology

AM-Tier Restriction Two

(amtr-two) The Renisans Timescale technology restrictions include anything electronic. The common people have access to books, art, advanced alchemy (pre-chemistry), anti-biotics, and other medicines. Black Powder weapons are relatively common but expensive. The wealthy may have lightbulbs and electricity. Anything beyond single switch technology is unheard of. To say it simply, anything marked as AM-Tier Restriction Three or higher is prohibited. Having such items makes a person a target.

The Story Guide

Over the last century of my life, I have had the honor to witness wonders. Through this written language on the superior technology of print where my words remain unmenaced, I share experiences.
