Starting the Table, y.0 — Mediva

The Ultimatum Spoken.
The hammer strikes the chains,
and then, War.
— Ulm Ein Jile

Secession began from a rumor. Port Einier had only been established for half a century. A place full of warehousing and processing plants. A few residential zones, limited shopping, and a mid-sized tavern right off of the docks which served the labor force and ship hands. Einier was small enough to have a tight knit community. Just about everyone knows everyone. Prior to the Declaration of Secession marking the beginning of y.0, Port Einier had, as a whole, fallen into a routine of gathering resources, processing, and sending them off to Oler Althe.

Beyond Port Einier and the few other connections to Oler Althe, Mediva spans all across the continent. Even in the later Timescales, from the border of the coils of the Ozwall, Mediva remains mostly untouched by technologies with few exceptions.

Coins

In exchange for their exports, the ships who docked in Port Einier would bring spices, Oler Althe made clothes and tools, the occasional new settler, but for all their labors they rarely saw stamps. The founding ideals of non-capitalistic trade and bartering began failing. As the population increased and more specialized individuals came, economics, gossip, complaints of unfair treatment, and the increasing gap of quality of life led to the adoption of the Common Stamp and Royal Stamp coin exchange.

It wasn’t a happy thing, for all the idealists who left a world of greed, to start yet another coin. Many rejected the coined stamps in the beginning, but the words of the wise and the words of zealots for change compared the absence of capital trade for laborers as slavery disguised as utopia.

The Ager Ethe Mint was established in the Riverbend Spiratch Mines, built into the Spiratch mountain. Reftum was made into Common Stamped Coins (Common Stamps, 99cs) and Xuramun was made into Royal Stamped Coins (Royal Stamps, 99rs). Both Reftum with its dull blue sheen and Xuramun with its mild rose gold glow were easy to press without heat. Large quantities of both metals were the first runoff in the refinery process. Both were thought of as useless by the smiths of the time due to how weak they were.

In many cases, trade and bartering will take place instead of purchasing items with coins.

Starting Stamps: During Itemization starting in Mediva, a character begins with 150 Royal Stamps and 250 Common Stamps. Anything costing more than this needs a background story reason as to why they would have the item(s).

Mediva Start

Starting Locations

Mediva may start in any drafted up town, village, or small city. There is room on the continent for table specific content. The locations provided by us are cannon. Our Locations and supporting characters are photo made, we suggest describing them in your own words.

Mediva Villages

Small clusters of villages are present near every major farm. Their populations are mostly made of ten to thirty families all who share their own contributions to the whole of their communities. They tend to have a blacksmith, a trading post, a few families who work the land, a good few hunters, and often a doctor or healer of sorts.

An example of villages in Ager Ethe during the Mediva time period includes Laborlead’s Village near riverbend at the base of the Spiratch Mountain. Their village is mostly of Megredan descent with a couple families of Barchhra and Onym. They are peaceful and welcoming with outsiders, a trait which serves well with their proximity to Riverbend.

Mediva Towns

Port Einier is a good example of a town, pre-expansion. Residential clusters with a few places which stay busy. A larger population serving a narrower set of job skills. All the basics are covered by the diversity of the population. With many of the individual residents working for much larger staged endeavors. Processing plants, warehouses, freight handlers, and the smaller civil structures it takes to provide for a larger economy.

Mediva Cities

Few and far between, the cities of Ager Ethe are fairly disconnected. The main lines of trade between them are usually their only connections. Each of the cities during the Mediva time period are highly segregated by species and culture. Tensions are not necessarily high between them due to the richness of the land. Cities have a population from anywhere between a few thousand to thirty thousand.

An example of a city in Ager Ethe would be Arendon, only a few miles of forests and farmland away from Port Einier down the Jaceb’s High Road. Arendon during the Mediva time period has a population of around Fifty Thousand. Made up mostly by Origin species but does have a mix of nearly every species as residents. To the west and north of Arendon is the Malvein Mountain Range whose easternmost peak is the Spiratch Mountain. To the south of Arendon are several hundred square miles of farmland, a half dozen towns and in the neighborhood of a hundred villages. All of which borders the Ager Expanse.

Mediva Technology

AM-Tier Restriction One

(amtr-one) The Mediva Timescale technology restrictions include anything using Alchemy with the exception of basic medicines and fertilizers. Black powder weapons are unheard of but occasionally slip through the cracks from Renisans. Mediva still has old world practical magics and enchanting but only miniscule amounts of war magics. To say it as simply, anything marked as AM-Tier Restriction Two or higher is prohibited. Having such items makes a person a target.
