Growth Points

Developer Notes: While our Characters are locked in to their Core Copse Cluster, Growth Points allow for strong customization, multiclassing, and specialization. Any effect with a Growth Point cost may be unlocked by a Character provided they have met all of the Effect’s prerequisites. We have added Abscission to respecialize characters during downtime.

Growth Points

We may spend Growth Points to unlock Actions and Effects outside our Core Copse Cluster.

Characters are granted One Growth Point for every Total Experience they gain.

We may spend our Growth Points during Growing Pain Scenes or simply at the discretion of our Story Guide.

Certain Achievements and Entitlements grant bonus Growth Points.

Effect Tree Reserialization

Getting rid of Effects we don’t want or use to open us up to customize our characters is a relatively lengthy process. Reserialization is mostly for unlocking Crown Effects when we’ve accumulated enough total experience or taking our characters in a different direction.

Abscission

Abscission & Pruning: Reclaiming Growth Points.

  • Abscission takes up to a week and one day, (v:8).

  • Any Leaf Effects associated with Branch Effects that are Pruned are also refunded.

  • Only one Branch Effect or a single Leaf Effect may be Pruned at a time.

  • Core Effect Trees can not be pruned.

  • The Growth Points must be spent unlocking a new effect during Abscission.

  • During Abscission, no Routines may be performed.

  • Whether or not you may go through the process of Abscission is entirely at the discretion of your Story Guide.

Epiphany: An epiphany is when we discard non Core Copse Cluster effects to regain spent Growth Points.

  • An Epiphany causes 3 Mental Stress.

  • This may only be done to swap one Effect at a time.

  • Whether or not you may have an Epiphany is entirely at the discretion of your Story Guide.

  • We recommend the normal process of Abscission for any major Character changes.

The Developer

If you stumbled here by accident, that’s all gravy. We use these pages in our archives as templates, style guides, reference content, and reusable assets. I’m also getting to write the FAQ, which is fun.
