Developer’s Notes

The idea is you can play and do anything? The higher level the more powerful, yes? The more capable, definitely.

Design Philosophy

We want more than tell a story and watch our characters shine. We want unique and novel moments. We want actions and abilities which are malleable enough to create any number of new possibilities. We want scalable growth and transcribable mechanics. We want to be able to play at the table with a few books, notebooks, pens, and paper. We also want to be able to log in and be there, too.

We want to bring Cirrus Ethereal alive in all ways a fantasy may be brought to life.

The Road Ahead for Effect Trees

Over the first released content will focus entirely on capturing the old tropes, tried and true character concepts, and the heroes landing.

As we move forward from covering the basics there, we will bring in the elements which are campaign setting specific for Cirrus Ethereal. Organized by faction title, the monster the character is, concept elements from the game’s lore. We don’t know if we will do anything ground breaking. Our goal is to bring our world to yours. So you can enjoy the core concepts we have had the honor to keep to ourselves for nearly a quarter of a century.

Our Premium Content is still in the pot, Cooking.

Subscriptions support our work and the dream of expanding all you see here. At this point we don’t have much locked behind the premium subscription. We would appreciate your support as we are getting off the ground!

If you stumbled here by accident, that’s all gravy. We use these pages in our archives as templates, style guides, reference content, and reusable assets. I’m also getting to write the FAQ, which is fun.
