Fire

Fire is a Base Element.

Radiance is the Cardinal Elemental Form of Fire.

Fire Damage

Taking or Dealing Fire Damage applies a Burn Injury Card. There are four types of Burn Injury Cards.

First-Degree Burn Injury Card

These only affect the outer layer of the skin, the epidermis.

  • Symptoms: Redness, pain, and mild swelling. The skin remains intact and there are no blisters.

  • First-Degree Burn Injury Cards apply 1 Hard Damage in addition to the action or effects regular damage.

Second-Degree Burn Injury Card

These go deeper, damaging both the epidermis and the dermis.

  • Symptoms: Intense pain, swelling, redness, and the formation of blisters that may ooze.

  • Agony: A Second-Degree Burn applies Agony until the Hard Damage has healed.

  • Second-Degree Burn Injury Cards apply 3 Hard Damage in addition to the action or effects regular damage.

Third-Degree Burns

These destroy both skin layers and can extend down into the fatty tissue underneath.

  • Symptoms: Because all skin layers and their associated nerve endings are destroyed, the burn site may feel numb. The area often appears dry, leathery, white, or charred.

  • Third-Degree Burn Injury Cards apply 5 Hard Burn Damage in addition to the action or effects regular damage.

  • Agony: A Third-Degree Burn applies Agony until the Hard Damage has healed.

  • Hard Burn Damage from Third-Degree Burns require special treatment to heal from.

Fourth-Degree Burns

These are the most severe, reaching past the skin into underlying muscles, tendons, or even bone.

  • Symptoms: The skin is completely destroyed and charred; underlying tissues may be visible. Nerves are completely destroyed, leaving the area numb.

  • Agony: A Fourth-Degree Burn applies Agony until the Hard Damage has healed.

  • Fourth-Degree Burn Injury Cards apply 10 Hard Burn Damage in addition to the action or effects regular damage.

Hard Burn Damage

Hard Burn Damage heals slower than Hard Damage, recovering only 1 Hard Burn Damage per week unless properly treated throughout. Applying a Hard Burn Damage treatment like a Burn Poultice speeds this up to 1 Hard Burn Damage recovered each day the Burn Poultice is used.
