Effect

Logic IndexApex CombatActions Routine

The Effect of an Action or Passive describes what the Action or Passive does.

Many effects fall into one of two categories of function. We have Static Effects, which behave as described, and Variable Effects which behave as determined by the outcome of a (v:). When an effect is displayed as Effect: (v:X), Random Number Generation is required to determine the outcome of the action. The most common Variable Effect is the Accuracy Check.

Caveats

Caveats: Caveats included post effect are additional conditions or rulings added to the mechanics which apply to certain situations where abuse was found in playtesting or additional clarification on the application of the effect of the action was needed, but we wanted to keep the effect description succinct.

Notes

Notes: Notes include some of the ways we’ve come up with to use certain effects in playtesting. Notes include both developers notes and story guide notes.

The Developer

If you stumbled here by accident, that’s all gravy. We use these pages in our archives as templates, style guides, reference content, and reusable assets. I’m also getting to write the FAQ, which is fun.
