Tactical Hub Environment

How to Play
Design Notes: The Strongest Campaigns have a Tactical Hub Environment. The Domicile System is geared to enhance the structure of Player driven world building. This system brings power to our Players and takes a hefty bit of weight off the shoulders of the Story Guide.

The Hub & Routines

Home-Based Routines

These routines occur safely within the Tactical Hub Environment (T.H.E.). They are designed to manage resources, enhance preparation, and progress personal projects.

  • Preparation: Mixing potions, preparing spells, enchanting items, practicing weapon skills, or focused study.

  • Maintenance: Tending livestock, performing equipment upkeep, or resting.

  • Strategic Planning: Group meetings to decide on the next engagement or mission objective.

Travel and Exploration Routines

These routines require the Character to venture out from the T.H.E., introducing an element of risk and additional opportunities for dynamic storytelling.

  • Procurement: Shopping trips for specific goods, gathering for ingredients and materials, or seeking out rare components.

  • Networking: Meeting with informants, establishing contacts, or interacting with Supporting Characters.

  • Scouting/Reconnaissance: Short excursions to gather immediate intelligence on potential Engagement zones.

These travel-based activities naturally facilitate Supporting Character Interactions and present opportunities for Random Engagements (e.g., a chance encounter with a merchant, spotting a potential threat like a wolf pack, or stumbling upon a minor clue). The Story Guide uses these moments to flesh out the world, offer roleplaying opportunities, or inject minor but meaningful engagements.

The Hub & Domiciles

The Flavor of a Stout Background and Status Quo

While a Player with a Character with The Estate Effect Tree may serve as a central campaign gathering point, other Players can easily spice this up with their Domicile being a Traveling Caravan or a Hide Out during Compromised Domicile Engagements. Players can combine their Domiciles with other Players or even choose to be a Drifter.

Our Major importance here is to allow as much freedom as you can as a Story Guide, but still keep things within the mechanics. The Player with the apartment may sleep there away from everyone, but still travel the few blocks to the Tactical Hub as part of his Rest to start his Routines. This is another one of those injection points. Grabbing a newspaper with an interesting headline may be a good hook.
