What a strange converse. I’ve seen the Calm Nights talk to trees, holding nothing back in hope that real wisdom may be found. They say if you talk to the right tree, and have the right kind of problem. That tree will provide you with both answers and the tool necessary to solve the issue.

Calm Ironoak, Once in a Lifetime

The Calm Ironoak offers you a branch, one of its own children, in exchange for a service. Often this service is the death of some invader or ecocide of an invasive species in the forests the Calm Ironoak resides. As all Calm Ironoak share a bond, you may only ever obtain one Ironoak Axe.

As long as you succeed in this service within 7 days, you will become Life Bound with your Ironoak Axe.

Ironoak: Once in a Lifetime Completion

When you finish the quest given to you by the Calm Ironoak you are given a Branch of the Calm Ironoak. Bonding takes only an expression of gratitude. A quick thank you is all, as well as paying the Potential Cost for Calm Ironoak.

Calm Ironoak Forms

Calm Ironoak Bangle

The Ironoak Bangle is the default form for the Calm Ironoak. It may be worn around the wrist, an ancle, over the bicep, or even around the neck.

Calm Ironoak Hatchet

The Ironoak Hatchet forms out of the Bangle when you want it. This change takes only 2 Action Slots. The Ironoak Hatchet may be used as a Hatchet, Woodsman’s Axe, or Survival Blade.

Calm Ironoak Hatchet

Item Type: Hatchet

Load Weight: 1.0

Durability: Equal to player’s Vitality.

Effect: Sowing Strikes

Calm Ironoak Sowing Strikes

Successfully hitting a Target with the Calm Ironoak Hatchet sows Calm Ironoak Acorns into their flesh.

The Calm Ironoak begins its life as spreading brambles with inch long briars. This carnivorous growth happens within seconds of the Acorn coming into contact with blood.

Activation

Action Rider: Sowing Strikes may be applied any time the Calm Ironoak Hatchet applies a Sharp Force Injury Card.

Effects

Bramble Growth: Immediately after getting struck by the Calm Ironoak Hatchet, brambles begin growing out of the wound causing (v:10) Puncturing Force Damage.

Stacking: Bramble Growth may stack indefinitely.

Removal: The Victim must succeed an (v:20) check equal or greater than 12.
Successfully pulling out the brambles takes 1 Action Slot or 1 Action Point and causes (v:10) Puncturing Force Damage.

Ongoing: Until the Brambles are removed they continue to cause (Xv:10) Puncturing Force Damage each re:Cycle. (X = Total Stacks)

Vulnerable: If the Victim of Bramble Growth becomes Vulnerable while affected by Bramble Growth, they die, and the brambles spread all over them, then seek to become roots. If those roots take hold, a new Calm Ironoak Tree grows at the location.

Taking Root: It takes a Calm Ironoak less than a month to grow to over 60 feet tall and reach physical maturity. If the soil can’t sustain the growth, the Calm Ironoak dies.
