Status Panel

We track all non-damage applications to our characters on the Status Panel, with the exception of Bleeding Counters, Hemorrhaging Counters, and Stun Counters which are tallied on the Injury Panel.

There are dozens of Status Types and the list continues to grow as we continue development. We have taken the time to create a hierarchy to help simplify things, as well as create Status Type Exclusions. The Status Panel and the logic behind it helps us keep track of this potential mountain of applied effects.

Major Status Types

Static AdjustmentsEnhancementsMaimed

Major Status Types are typically long term, semi-permanent, or permanent and remain on the Status Panel near the bottom. They range from minor alterations to major disabilities.

Temporary Status Types

ConditionsBuffsEnfeeblements

Temporary Status Types fade quickly and many are intense in the moment buffs or crushing enfeeblements. They’re placed near the top of the Status Panel due to their durations being tracked by Action Slot usage, Full Rounds, or in the Minutes.

Status Panel Tracking

With so many possible Status Effects applied to our characters, we need to keep our Status Panel organized. We’ve found the best practice is to put the longest term status effects at the bottom of the stack, and the fleeting ones near the top. This organization helps us work out our countdowns. Not every character will need to constantly reference their Status Panel, but those who do may want to group things which cycle at certain rates with each other.

Things counting down by days grouped with days won’t get missed if they’re out of order. Status Effects which should only last a minute won’t get lost on the top of the stack, but if they’re buried in the stack near the bottom it’s possible to accidentally be influenced by the effect for too long.

The Developer

If you stumbled here by accident, that’s all gravy. We use these pages in our archives as templates, style guides, reference content, and reusable assets. I’m also getting to write the FAQ, which is fun.
