Murgen Brambles
Common Flora
Murgen Brambles are often a death sentence to be thrown into. Walking through them is also not recommended. Their brambles can grow up to five inches in length, feature barbs which make removal both damaging and agonizing, and as they get longer the ends of them dry out and become both rigid and brittle. When they spike someone, their barbs break off inside of the victim when pulled back out.
Parts of Murgen Brambles
Murgen Bramble Canes: The Shoots of a Samphir Cane are tall and vibrantly green. They produce dozens of leaves at a time which may be plucked daily.
Murgen Bramble Thorns: These 4-5 Inch needles feature barbs. They’re usable as blow darts straight plucked from a bramble.
Murgen Bramble Leaves: Compound and usually alternate, featuring three to five (sometimes seven) serrated, oval leaflets that are dark green on top and lighter/hairy underneath.
Murgen Bramble Flowers: Blue or Pink seven-petaled flowers, typically 1 inch in diameter, appearing in spring to late summer.
Murgen Bramble Fruit (Brambleberries): Brambleberries are red and edible but only appear in the early winter, they are mildly sweet but mostly bitter.
Murgen Bramble Rootstock: A tough, perennial, underground root system that allows the plant to regrow annually. In a greenhouse they never stop growing, and will outgrow their plots. The Bramble Rootstock is usually Harvested and Processed for Murgen Starch.
Murgen Bramble Tips: The ends of canes that, upon touching the ground, can root and form new "daughter" plants.
Flora Cultivation: Murgen Brambles
With how fast Samphir Cane leaves grow, there is no need to Harvest a Stalk, but if you do, you gain 10x the normal Harvest of Refined Sugar.
Controlled Cultivation: Nearly any long clipping of a Murgen Bramble may root a plot. This allows for Harvesting within a week as they take root.
Wild Cultivation: Wild Cultivation is Illegal in most places, but Murgen Brambles are often left alone because they’re edible berries are sometimes the only wild grown food in Winter.
