Alpha Test Notes

Character Creation is live and undergoing playtest and alpha usage review. The questions we’re asking involve:

Is Character Creation simple enough?
What about leveling up?
What are your thoughts on the Active Phase System?

We’re running behind on Optional Effects Trees and finishing the version 1.0 update to our crafting mechanical overview. The philosophy going forward is to make the system as simple as possible and putting the scope of those effects in with the individual items. This increases development time on individual items, but takes the pressure off the core system function.

For the time being it is sitting somewhere between as simple as we want it and convoluted with several examples of band aids for the moment.

Outlook

A philosophy for version 1 is to make the mechanics on the front end simple and streamlined with future content taking on its own unique forms and feels in how it uses the spine to flesh out the storytelling and action potential.

Among the Version 1 kit we are working to have the core of the tree. Character Creation and the Copse Clusters, each with their prime class concept identity, and the intermingling of classes through growth points to make multiclassing and specializing characters how a player sees fit. All with the ability to mechanically respecialize over a few weeks game time as reskilling in real life lets us as people change our abilities to suit the world and how it changes for us in each stage of life.

In our campaign model we’re looking to establish the big world, big city feel, but have lovable supporting characters with real in depth storylines which harbor the tools to tell the whole story in the chaos of our character’s lives.

Power Scaling

With our haste to bring things to market and limited budget for play testing, power scaling isn’t anywhere near where we want it to be. A ton of rebalancing will happen between the Alpha and Beta versions.

We continue working every day to bring a solid system and setting to you and our own tables.
